Now seeking donations for Shriners Hospitals
~by Taylor Teays for The Scranton Journal
Greene County senior Nathan Behne has been selected to represent the school in the Iowa Shrine Bowl this summer and is working to raise money for the organization ahead of the July 20 game.
2024 marks the 51st Iowa Shrine Bowl game, happening on July 20 at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. Behne, along with other players selected for the bowl, have the opportunity to attend a camp prior to the game. At the camp, players and cheerleaders will get ready for the game, meet other attendees, and learn about the impact they can have on the children the Shriners support.
An addition to the high school Shrine Bowl week will be the Shriners’ Children Mini-Camp, allowing patients from across the Midwest to join the players on the UNI-Dome field to interact, play games and share stories.
To wrap up the week, there will be a parade on the morning of July 20, followed by the 4 pm kickoff of the game.
Behne has a goal to raise $2,500 through sponsorships and donations. There are opportunities ranging from $100 to $2,000 for advertisements in the game program, though donations of any amount (without advertisement) are welcome. Sponsorships must be received by April 24.
Anyone interested in purchasing a sponsorship may do so by visiting www.io washrinebowl.org/forms and selecting “Iowa Shrine Bowl Game Sponsorship” and selecting check or credit card. To ensure Nathan Behne receives credit, include his name and email (NJBehne@gmail.com) with the sponsorship. Any questions can be directed to Behne at 319-601-9709.
